I’m committed to delivering quality education, improving graduation rates, and listening to parents and community members

I am Karina Guzmán Ortiz

I’m a proud mother of two Salem-Keizer School District students and the daughter of dedicated and resilient Mexican immigrants. I have worked as a substitute teacher in the School District and ran the local CAPACES youth program.  I earned a Masters of Social Work at PSU and I am now at the Early Learning Division of the Oregon Department of Education. I am running for Salem-Keizer School Board in Zone 5 to prioritize our most vulnerable students and to center the education and wellbeing of our children, youth and their families.

For too long, the needs of Salem-Keizer students and families have been ignored

From School funding to quality education, from COVID-19 safety to school safety, from graduation rates to testing, these are the most pressing challenges the next school board must solve.
