I am Karina Guzmán Ortiz, and I am running for Salem-Keizer School Board in Zone 5.
I am Karina Guzmán Ortiz, proud mother of two Salem- Keizer Schools students and daughter of dedicated and resilient Mexican immigrants.
Salem has been my home since childhood. I attended Salem-Keizer Public Schools from kindergarten through graduation. I am a testament to the power of supportive, caring and dedicated educators and the resiliency of our people - those who have begun anew, who have faced illness, loss, poverty and more.
Since graduating from our schools, I have had the opportunity to work directly with young children, youth and families. I have worked and led in education, healthcare and government settings. After graduating from Salem-Keizer, I attended community college and went on to earn a Masters of Social Work.
I am running to serve another term on the Salem-Keizer School Board because I care deeply about our students, families and educators. I know that our schools are beacons of joy and learning, but we also have so much to improve. I am committed to ensuring that our schools - the same schools my children attend - are safe, welcoming and centers of academic excellence. Together, we can make the necessary changes.
To make this happen, I need your support. I need your vote. Vote Karina Guzmán Ortiz for Salem-Keizer School Board, Zone 5 on May 20th.
